As a historical sociologist (Ph.D. in Sociology), she has conducted research on modern Korean history, the history of social movements, women’s labor history, and issues related to historical justice and human rights. She has worked at the Institute for Social Movement Studies and the Daegu Institute of Social Research, and previously served as an Investigator at the first Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Korea and as a Research Professor at the Institute for Korean Social Studies, Korea University. She is currently a Research Professor at the Institute for Democracy Studies, Sungkonghoe University, where her research focuses on addressing the legacy of state-perpetrated gender-based violence. Her major publications include The October Uprising: Daegu, October 1946—Into Sealed Time (Dolbegae, 2016); Democratic Trade Unions, Labor–Student Solidarity, and Social Transformation (Academy of Korean Studies, 2017, co-author); Modern Korean History and State Violence (Pureun Yeoksa, 2019, co-author); The History of the Democratization Movement in Daegu and Gyeongbuk (Seonin, 2020, co-author); A Pocket History of Daegu (Cultural Heritage Division, Daegu Metropolitan City, 2024, co-author); and Daegu’s May 18: The Dure Book Cooperative Incident (Chaekgwa Hamkke, 2025). Among these, The October Uprising: Daegu, October 1946—Into Sealed Time received the 10th Im Jong-guk Prize and was selected as a 2017 Outstanding Academic Book by the Sejong Book Program.

He majored in Political Sociology, with a focus on North Korean society. In addition, he is conducting research on Korean politics and social movements. He served as editor-in-chief of The Radical Review and chair of the Executive Committee of the Korea Progressive Academic Council. His major works include <The World of Revolution, the History of Rebellion>, <Legal Order and the Safe Society>(co-authored), <On the Yushin Regime>(co-authored), <The Dilemma of the Public interest of Knowledge>(co-authored), <The Crisis of Global Capitalism and the Left’s Alternative>(co-authored), <Marxism and Politics> (co-authored), and <Strategic Flexibility>.

He received his Ph.D. in Social and Economic Law from Sungkyunkwan University with a dissertation on “Domination and Intervention,” a category of unfair labor practices designed to protect labor unions. He provides consultation and support on a wide range of labor issues in practice, including collective bargaining and industrial action. He also serves as a Worker Member of the Seoul Regional Labor Relations Commission and as a Public Auditor for the Seoul Metropolitan Government. With the hope that the three fundamental labor rights guaranteed by the Constitution can be fully exercised as fundamental freedoms and embraced as a natural part of society, he analyzes and researches labor law and labor policy from this perspective.

She received her Ph.D. in Women’s Studies from the University of York (UK). Her research and teaching focus on gender-based violence, relationships and intimacy, and qualitative research methodologies. She currently serves as a Committee Member of the Institute for Family Constitution Rights and previously served as Co-Director of the Gender Beyond Borders Institute. Her recent publications include 「The Need for a Shift in the Operational Model of Domestic Violence Shelters: A Perspective of Housing Justice and Agency」2026), 「The Impact of Women’s Experience using Work–family Balance Policies on their Plans for Additional Childbirth: Hierarchical Model Analysis Controlling for Fathers’ Participation in Caregiving」 (2025), 「Problems and improvement plans in operating victim support facilities through the experiences of women who have been victims of domestic violence during the COVID-19 period」 (2024), and 「Forced Consent, Coerced Relationships: Mechanisms of Coercive Control and Women's Agency in Reclaiming Freedom through the Experiences of Dating Violence Victims」 (2024).

Ph.D. candidate, Interdisciplinary Program in Gender in Gender Studies of Seoul National University. A member of the Centre for Women’s Culture and Theory. The main subjects of academic interest are feminist cultural studies, sexuality, affect.
